Looks like this issue can also be fixed by setting the game to run in windowed mode. Then it works fine with game mode. Maybe something about the resolution is causing the stream to fail? I used a standard 1080p monitor.
I have had the same problem for about the last year.
Arch Linux
KDE 6
Wayland
5700X3D
9070XT
Steam Deck: Q1 LCD 256GB
I didn't know what was breaking streams before either. It seems like they break from alt+tab, input permissions pop ups, and notifications. I'll have to give windowed mode a try
I had this problem with my Arch Linux with Hyperland (wayland) but I'm not the host, I'm the Guest.
├: Linux 7.1.4-arch1-1
├: Hyprland 0.56.0 (Wayland)
├: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X (12) @ 5.49 GHz
├: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
├: AMD Radeon Graphics
My friend is streaming from windows but no Screen appears to me.
Not working either on Windowed mode.
For those who have this issue highly recommend checking out sunshine/moonlight. it's been a much more solid experience in my case then remote play.
Nothing extracted yet.

Steam Remote Play seems to be having an issue in game mode when streaming form a Linux system.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
Typically I found that I'd have to either restart my deck, or enter desktop mode to get the deck working correctly again.
The workaround I found was to go to desktop mode and stream it from there, then everything works fine.
