Are you using Wayland? I have the same issue on one of my machines which is running Wayland, two other machines running Xorg work as intended. Weirdly enough, switching to an X-environment does not fix the issue though.
Steam runs on CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework), if I'm not mistaken. Chromium application is also giving the same behavior, crashing that is, on the Wayland machine, even after reinstalling.
Maybe somebody has some input on this?
Google Chrome runs fine, it's only Steam crashing. I can quickly navigate to my library if I'm fast enough but it only takes seconds to crash.
Hello @Martmists-GH, disabling the Steam runtime is not supportable by Valve, any library dependency issues with that config needs to be evaluated and resolved by you and the distro's package maintainers that helped you run Steam that way.
My understanding is that when you run steam on an Arch system with the steam-native-runtime package installed, it hands off starting Steam to steam-native, which is this unsupportable method. Please test how steam-runtime behaves, and if it fails again, collect another set of logs.

Not OP here but same issue, I will post my terminal output + steam logs at the bottom, and a longer descriptive text first.
Can't speak for OP but I'm running steam-runtime by default and experiencing the same issue - both on Wayland, Xorg, and also with steam-native-runtime.
Everything was working as of less than 12h ago, and no updates to my system were made, apart from any updates steam potentially made automatically on today's launch.
So far this has had no effect:
I just can't find the common denominator here...
The only thing we did was go to bed with a working system, only to find Steam broke itself.
Attached you will find the logs for steam, and here you have the terminal output:

Yup, looks like I mistakenly associated steam with Steam Runtime. Apologies!

Wait, did this seriously fix the issue for you? I'm having no luck...
