Your system information

  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): CachyOS (Arch Linux)
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

If a game in my library is streamable via a second device running the Steam client that already has the game installed, there is no way to install the game on to my first device from the desktop Steam client. This happens even if no games are currently running on either setup.

Screenshots

Balatro, which is present on my Steam Deck but not my desktop PC, is unable to be installed on my desktop:

Baldur's Gate 3, which is not present on my Steam Deck, can be installed:

Notably, on my Steam Deck, Final Fantasy VII: REBIRTH shows up as streamable from my desktop, but I'm able to choose between devices to either stream or install the game locally in a menu which does not seem to exist on the desktop client:

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. On a Steam Deck running in gamescope-session, install any game
  2. On a second PC running the Steam client from a Linux desktop, sign in and try to install that game locally

There should only be a Stream button and no option to install the game.

  1. On the second PC, install a different game that is not present on your Steam Deck
  2. On the Steam Deck, go to the game's library entry from Step 3

There should be the option to either stream the game or install it to your device locally

hmm, seems to have gone back to showing a drop down menu as expected on the desktop client as well after a steam reset from terminal... will leave open for now but suspect it was something transient

Nothing extracted yet.
