iMac running Linux Ubuntu via Proton compatibility layer

  • Steam client version (build number or date): latest
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Ubuntu
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: [Yes/No] Dont know
  • Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes/]
  • Steam Logs: [generate by running this command in a terminal tar -zcvf ~/Desktop/steam-logs.tar.gz ~/.steam/steam/logs]
  • GPU: Nvidia/Intel/AMD: Stock Nvidia I think, but the game ran fine on the iOS prior to the update which forced me to format the iMac for Linux.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible: I was using a outdated iOS that was forced out because of the latest CS Source update. After contacting Steam support I was encouraged to switch to a Linux software. After the installation of Ubuntu Linux and Proton compatibility layer the game will appear to launch but crashes after it says its running. I changed the Source settings compatibility to use Proton same as the Counterstrike Source compatibility to force use Proton. The game still doesn't launch. What am I missing? On a separate note; the Linux software is SO much more responsive than my old IOS software. But it would be cool to play some CS Source ;-). Thank you for your help.

Hello @codioos, we're tracking issues with games run with Proton in the Proton issue tracker. Also, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5137#issuecomment-2683148155.
