I noticed that no matter what Linux this option in the Steam client simply does not work and it is very useful for testing games on Linux for Steam and for Proton DB and would save a lot of time:

on Linux it is not possible even with some tinkering I even set the network drive to be mounted in the MNT location but it is still not possible to add it so that it works on Steam please fix it so that I can add my network drive on SMB to the Steam client and launch games from it this will help with testing games on Linux and additionally fix the Steam client error on Linux

but it did not work on other distributions either even with some tinkering
on Windows it works without a problem and I think it will not be that difficult to fix it
