are you using an NTFS drive?
wine: '/mnt/d/InstalledGames/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1151340/pfx' is not owned by you
fwiw I have a 5090 and its been running fine on 570
yes the drive is owned by root but access of all its contents is rwx to everyone. ( as a normal user I can read and touch files etc in the Steam library directory just fine from the command line) so shouldn't the steam app I launch also be able to?.
I'm therefore not at all clear why explicitly adding the UID and GID of my user to the mount command fixed the problem, or why some games (such as Dwarf Fortress) worked without, but it did fix it!
Thank you again!!!

Your system information
tar -zcvf ~/Desktop/steam-logs.tar.gz ~/.steam/steam/logs] Logs attached. Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
I'm running Steam under Ubuntu Linux (24.04 with nvidia driver 570 (open)).
Since upgrading to an RTX 5090 (MSI Suprim), nearly all games won't run any more.
On starting the game, it does build the Vulkan shaders OK as normal, but then apparently crashes immediately after when trying to launch the game. (The "play" button in the steam window turns from "stop" back to "play" again almost immediately after the Vulkan shader step, suggesting the game crashed).
If I simply replace the 5090 with my old GPU (3090) (just replace the card, no changes in software or other configuration) everything runs just fine.
NOTE: I've subsequently reinstalled Linux from scratch (this time using Ubuntu 25.04 which comes with nvidia driver 570 installed) and the same problem still exists.
Games that work with the 3090 but don't with the 5090 include No Mans Sky, Portal Prelude RTX, Red Dead Redemption 2 and World of Tanks. The only game in my entire library that I've found that still works with the 5090 is Dwarf Fortress. Perhaps because it doesn't even use 3D?
