I second this. It's not only new games. Sometimes you just forget a game you own has denuvo (or you might not even know). I did this oopsie 2-3 times with DOOM Eternal. Now I had completely forgotten that it will be the same for DOOM TDA. Would be cool if there is a warning. I think 3 proton switches are enough to trigger it. If you are a journalist/tuber you can't use such games for benchmarks in one day without risking it. It sucks man.

This would be a great value-add for Steam as a platform, either providing incentive for Denuvo to improve their practices regarding 'anti-tampering' mechanisms or simply warning consumers of anti-consumer practices.
The ideal scenario would be "prevent vendors from selling software containing Denuvo on the Steam platform," but for now we can settle for this.
A counter for how many times you've already switched would be a little nice to have!

A good thing would be to exclude these strong DRMs from Steam, true.
I can understand that this might not be good for Valve itself but they could put a warning message on what is Denuvo and what are the common drawbacks BEFORE the final purchase button.
Given Denuvo's official response, this needs to be an exclusion criteria for getting any Steam Deck rating that's not "Unsupported", same way as EA's anticheat gives that rating.
Or just ban Denuvo.
Should re-raise this, I just hit it when fiddling and trying to get Tom Clancy's Wildlands to work properly, switched proton versions one too many times, now I can't play for 24 hours. Seems like this would still be a good feature to add...

There is a recurring issue when new big release game protected by Denuvo come out that people end up triggering the DRM by switching Proton version and being unable to play for 24hours. If Steam can detect if a game is using Denuvo, then placing a warning in the window used for switching Proton version could help prevent users ending up in that situation accidentally.
