I suggest to remove all unneeded Ubuntisms like libindicator and replace them with standards like Systray Spec.
Why? Distribution execept Ubuntu officially supports them, trying to get these is very hard and requires to patch high amount of library's.
How reproduce this?
Install and run steam under a DE of your favour without Unity as shell or without any plugin that implements the Ayanta stuff and see that you get no systray icon.
