I attempted to run the latest version of the Steam client on my system, and it crashes as soon as I open it -- or, rather, it fails to open at all. Here is the debugging output that I get when I attempt to run the client through the terminal:
dylan@DylanTaylor-Desktop:~/Downloads$ steam
/home/dylan/Steam/steam.sh: line 376: 14180 Segmentation fault (core dumped) $STEAM_DEBUGGER "$STEAMROOT/$PLATFORM/$STEAMEXE" "$@"
Installing bootstrap /home/dylan/Steam/bootstrap.tar.xz
/home/dylan/Steam/steam.sh: line 169: 14184 Segmentation fault (core dumped) tar xf "$STEAMBOOTSTRAPARCHIVE"
What Tele42 is saying, is that you may be able to work around the current issue by running STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam and letting steam update to fix the problem. If that doesn’t work, please comment further.
