Your system information

  • Steam client version: 1750287942
  • SteamOS version: 3.7.10
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

If an underlying application, such as Ryujinx, has 0 fps, opening the Steam menu and the closing it can leave the menu visible. Simply moving your mouse fixes this, but it can be confusing for a while until you figure that out.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. open an application that goes to 0 fps when no activity is happening (such as Ryujinx)
  2. Open the Steam menu by pressing STEAM
  3. Close the steam menu

Result

The Steam menu stays on until the application refreshes

Expected

The Steam menu should do a single refesh after it has been dismissed so that the visuals change.

does this also happen in big picture mode on desktop or is it only in gamescope-session?

MManagor 2025-06-21 github

It does not. On desktop mode the overlay doesn't even work on top of Ruyjinx

This is probably a Gamescope issue then, maybe something borked with redrawing for non-base planes.

I was able to capture some demonstrative footage: https://youtu.be/uTrzzuimfC0
What's curious is that this seems to be a Steam Deck only problem. I wasn't able to reproduce this on my PC that is running gamescope launched from SDDM

Also the gamescope pipewire node was being a pain so I had to find a capture card to record this.

Definitely happens on other handhelds too fwiw

This has been fixed. Neither Konsole, qpwgraph or ryujinx prevents the UI from being dismissed.

Nothing extracted yet.
