Hello @rahlquist, in the generalized format you've written this request, it's out of scope for the Steam for Linux client.
There's a couple scenarios that would lead to poor performance and have no apparent reason unless you already know about this hypothetical mechanism.
Also, managing power profiles is generally supposed to be an OS or Linux distribution oriented topic.

Two thoughts.
New options related to enable.
First user can choose to enable an option which lowers TDP when the device is set down detected by lack of gyro activity or it falls below normal threshold. When the Gyros detect motion return to the former TDP setting.
Second option, active when first is selected, to set a timeout to immediately sleep the device while the gyro remains inactive.
The first would limit power use when someone briefly sets the device down.
The second option would help unintentional device at rest periods from consuming larger amounts of battery when someone sets the device down briefly and is unable to return before the time out they set. This would allow them to choose to have the device set to significantly protect their battery life.
