Possibly related to #12172 but they looked different enough I didn't want to throw that thread off-topic.
Your system information
Whenever I start Rivals of Aether, and ONLY Rivals of Aether, once Steam tries to start the Proton prefix, or on rare occasions when interacting with the Steam Input menu in the overlay, I risk my entire X server crashing. I know it's not the game itself causing this because it will frequently occur before it's even had a chance to start loading. IDK if this is a Steam bug or an Xorg bug so I'm dropping it here.
My friend also says Steam crashed X for him a couple of times too (does not own/play RoA, this was just completely random) but that was a week ago and he hasn't reported anything like that again since. He is on a first gen Ryzen and an RX 6600 XT(?) We are both on the latest kernel. He is on X11libre but I am running stock Xorg from the Arch repos.
Below is my Xorg log. the "your system is too slow" message is from Steam eating up my resources trying to start the prefix. I had a Retrobit Saturn wired controller plugged into /dev/input/js0. Steam Input tries to do something with the controllers and then XOrg segfaults. That's all I know. I got it to crash once by just turning Steam Input off and back on while the game was running so that makes me think the controllers are somehow related.
