Steam client version (build number or date): 1754677506
Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): SteamOS 3.8 (main)
Opted into Steam client beta?: [Yes/No] Yes
Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes/No] Yes
Steam Logs: I could not capture them at the time of the issue happening
GPU: AMD
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
The steam client in SteamOS (in my case, in the Steam Deck) caches downloads of games instaled in the main SSD into the MicroSD. I attach a screenshot of it happening while updating Helldivers 2 (prefix 553850), which is installed in the SSD:
In this case I had around 40GB of free space in the SSD and around 130GB in the microSD.
I think that this is unacceptable behavior. Not only it makes updates terribly slow, but it significantly reduces the life span of your microSD.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
Launch steamos with a microsd plugged in and properly mounted and formatted
If an update of some game starts, there is a chance that it will be cached in the MicroSD
