I expected no warning about the signature on the repo cert. when I attempt to upgrade my system.

From the output I would guess that you need to update your cert for steampowered.com needs to be updated from SHA1. and you need to correct the formatting of your repo as well note the line that states "The sources.list(5) entry for 'https://repo.steampowered.com/steam' should be upgraded to deb822 .sources"
Since you folks support Unbuntu which is based off Debian you're gonna need to fix them anyways.
