How to upload the two dump files? The fail to load (about 900kb in size each).
Here is a link to the dump files that will work for 1 week.
I'm observing crashes too. I had two of them while in-game and confirmed just now that I can reproduce a crash while keeping Steam open without launching any games.
I have also observed crashes, the logs I saw were practically identical to the debug log that was posted by
@WiseFerret.
My system information
Steam client version (build number or date): 1758150255
Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): EndeavourOS (Arch derivative)
Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
Have you checked for system updates?: Yes
GPU: AMD Radeon 7900 XT
I have observed it crashing, both in and out of game. Typically after about 1 hour. If in game, shortly after steam crashes, the game of whatever is being played, exits outs, without any prompt. (which I am assuming its hooking into the game process somewhere and using steam in some capacity to remain open).
I for now opted out of the beta for now after having this crash several times. I will test later tomorrow to see if I experience the same issues.
Same issue on Steam Beta, getting random segfaults after ~10 minutes:
[ 928.568636] IPC:CSteamEngin[2510]: segfault at 80000336 ip 00000000d855c529 sp 00000000d51ed4b0 error 4 in steamclient.so[2892529,d6a66000+1e76000] likely on CPU 16 (core 4, socket 0)
Not sure if it's the latest beta o the latest package update on Arch but I'm also getting lots of coredumps in the last 2-3 days without even playing

At the very least as a stop gap for some folks, I have not experienced these crashes since switching off the beta client. I have run it in the background all day today, played some games during lunch, etc. Zero crashes.
question? by chance does the entire monitor that steam is on become unresponsive and no longer work until rebooting? that is the issue i am having. even if you kill steam it stays visible and the monitor is non functional. i have had it happen 3 times now. once seemingly at random, once after clicking something in my library, and once immediately after steam loaded. in that order. all within a couple hours beginning friday 09/19.

I've downgraded to systemd 257.9 following this https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/12310#issuecomment-3309375151, as steam input with my dualsense wasn't working today, which seems to have helped with the crashing issue on Steam Beta client at here on arch/nvidia/gnome/wayland
Edit: Womp, it segfaulted randomly, just took much, much longer for some reason, will opt-out of beta fttb
I encounter the same thing as well, except it also happens if I'm idle in game. Eg. in Horizon Forbidden West, just pausing and staying on the menu for ~15 minutes is enough to have Steam crash and exit in the background. The game runs fine until it attempts to save and then it'll hang. The crash doesn't seem to occur while actively interacting with either Steam or the game.

Like other folks, I'm on the beta client. I have not tested if unenrolling from the beta release channel fixes the problem for me yet.
My system information
I've been having crashes on beta client since the update that announced 32 bit os support will be dropped. I've tried various compositors, disabling the GPU acceleration in steam client, but the result is always the same, steam just crashes suddenly with no error message, log reports are also random but I've witnessed it complaining about gpu process crashing a few times.
Same problem for me on Fedora 42, and Steam 1758328855 (beta) (build: Sat, Sep 20 02:17 UTC -08:00).
I did not see reported here, when crashing steam prints in the console:
src/vstdlib/coroutine.cpp (817) : GCoroutineMgr().IsValidCoroutine(hCoroutine)
src/vstdlib/coroutine.cpp (817) : GCoroutineMgr().IsValidCoroutine(hCoroutine)

I have dualsense too, I wonder if it may be related. I tried unplugging mine, and Steam did not crash (I did not test for hours only about half an hour). When plugging the controller back and waiting 15 minutes, Steam crashed right on time. Do other affected by this issue have a dualsense or another controller?
Do other affected by this issue have a dualsense or another controller?
Oh, interesting. Yeah, I was using a Dualsense controller as well.
I also had a Dualsense plugged in while experiencing this issue, before switching back to Stable
Yup, Dualsense here as well and the Steam client crashes about 10-15 after connecting the controller.
I have Dualsense too. Nice catch!
Also have a Dualsense plugged in, so seems plausible it may be related to that.
Thanks for the reports and logfiles.
A beta update just shipped with a potential fix for this issue. If you see the problem after updating to the new client let me know.
@lostgoat, preliminary results, opted back into the beta, about 20 minutes after you posted here, no crashes so far. so so far so good. This stability may also be from the fact I unplugged the dualsense I had plugged in. I will run more testing tomorrow with it plugged in instead.
seems fine here as well on beta client with idle dualsense
Thanks for rechecking
Your system information
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Steam beta client crashes by itself, even without starting any games, ~15 minutes after starting.
Disabling steam overlay and steam gpu support for web content does not solve the issue.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
I attach the terminal output and the dump files.
