System Information

  • Distro: CachyOS (Arch-based)
  • Kernel: Linux 6.16.8-s
  • Desktop: Wayland
  • Steam version: 1757650573
  • Controller(s): Sony DualSense (and GameSir G8 tested)
  • Connection method: USB / Bluetooth (tested both)

The Issue

Controller is correctly detected by Steam Input (shows up in Steam settings and Big Picture mode), but once I launch a game, the controller stops working.

  • Only keyboard and mouse inputs are recognized.
  • This happens in multiple games (e.g. Furi, [add more examples if you have]).
  • Outside Steam, i tested with ppsspp emulator, the controller works fine.
  • I switched from EndeavourOS to CachyOS (both Arch-based) and the issue persists.

What I tried

  • Tested on both X11 and Wayland → same result.
    • Tried adding custom udev rules for the controller but it did not help.
  • Created custom udev rules for DualSense.
  • Reset Steam Input configuration.
  • Reinstalled Steam (native package from Arch repo, not Flatpak).

Still, issue persists.

Logs

Relevant logs from ~/.steam/steam/logs/:

  • [ ] controller.txt
  • [ ] input.txt
  • [ ] bootstrap_log.txt

(Attaching those as files.)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Connect DualSense controller to Linux PC.
  2. Open Steam → controller detected in Steam Input.
  3. Launch a supported game.
  4. In-game, controller does not send inputs (only KB/M works).

Expected behavior

Controller should function in-game via Steam Input, just like on Steam Deck or Windows.

Actual behavior

Controller is detected but no button inputs work in-game.
