  • GPU: AMD Van Gogh RDNA 2.0 (Steam Deck)

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

If the Steam Deck is connected to a non-HDR monitor or to a monitor via a Dock / HUB without HDR passthrough, the HDR toggle does not visually reflect the current state of the device.

  1. The Quick-Access Menu (QAM) and Display settings are visually greyed out but the toggle is shown as visually enabled (aria-checked="true").
  2. The Quick-Access Menu (QAM) does not indicate the Display's HDR support status similar to the Display settings (or like the QAM's VRR option).

This would be visually consistent with other options such a VRR (in the QAM) and HDMI CEC (Display Settings).

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Connect a Steam Deck to a non-HDR monitor.
  2. Navigate to Steam -> Settings -> Display and scroll down to Enable HDR.
  3. Press ... to open the Quick-Access Menu.
  4. Navigate to the Performance tab and scroll down to Enable HDR

Reproduction Rate: 5/5

Affected Platforms

  • LCD / Jupiter: Yes
  • OLED / Galileo: Yes
  • Desktop Deck-like session (gamescope -e -- steam -gamepadui -steamdeck): N/A
  • Desktop: N/A

Actual result

  • HDR toggle is visually enabled when the option is greyed out. Option does not indicate that the current display does not support HDR.

Expected result

  • HDR toggle is always visually off when the option is greyed out. Option indicates the HDR status of the current monitor to highlight why the option is enabled or not.
