Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. Please link any large code pastes as a Github Gist

Expected: I expected Steam to start and the main window to be displayed.

What did happen: I launched Steam and it only appeared in the Gnome system tray. And I am unable to get the main Steam window to appear.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Install Ubuntu
  2. Install Steam
  3. Click on the Steam icon on the Gnome dock

I do have a workaround to this problem. If I launch Steam from the command line instead of the dock icon, it works as I expect it to.
