Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 1763795278

  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Arch linux

  • Window manager: niri

  • xwayland manager: xwayland-satellite

  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No

  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

  • Steam Logs: steam-logs.tar.gz

  • GPU: Intel

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

After steam has updated I was unable to launch games (although there was a period of days since I last used it) it seems to try to login but then it just quits..

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. run steam through cli

Possible workaround

running steam through gamescope seems to launch it correctly, which is why I included my window manager and xwayland client.

Same issue here on arch with niri and xwayland satellite and intel GPU

Restarting my machine makes it work for a little though.

Hello @noxarad, @nerdwave-nick, this was previously discussed on #12466 with https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/12466#issuecomment-3559049949 having the determination that this is an xwayland-satellite bug which has already been fixed, but is waiting on the next point release over there.

Closing as not a Steam bug.
