Currently the panel icon for Steam with Mint 14 Cinnamon serves no purpose as you cannot minimise the windows to the applet. As a result it is just taking up screen real estate as Steam is now present both in my panel's applets and in the panel's window switcher.
Additionally the icon is very distinctive and clashes quite badly with default Ubuntu Unity icons and Mint Cinnamon icons.
Thirdly the applet is highly unresponsive. Clicking on it does bring up a very basic context menu (which is redundant as I already have the window open) but this menu takes approximately a second to open while other applets are instantaneous.
I would like to be able to disable this panel applet icon as it would solve all these problems.
