Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I have around ~200 games in my Steam library, spread across 3 NTFS drives. I moved to Linux in September, and imported my steam libraries from the ntfs mounts, using the symlinking compatdata to an ext4 trick to make sure prefixes don't cause issues, and it worked flawlessly. I have the GTA trilogy, back on Windows I haven't had 3 installed, but I have VC and SA. I wanted to make a backup of my SA and install a new one for modding, quit steam, moved the folder around, started back up, then realized the Install button is grayed out. Then I realized the other 2 GTA games are affected as well. I've read the other bug reports, claiming global steam play settings, but I think it's been changed since, and it's just a single version dropdown, a version I do have installed. Game specific compatibility settings are not available, "The settings for this title cannot be changed"

Steps for reproducing this issue:

I am not sure. I contacted Steam support, they insisted my issue is not being on Ubuntu LTS, which I doubt. I installed that one in a VM with Steam, I have the install button available there. I do not think it's related to me moving the install files around, because GTA 3 is still affected, and I haven't played that game in some years.

I believe GTA 3 comes in two releases. One for Mac and one for windows. You should be able to play the windows version just fine.

Yes, for the original version (not Definitive Edition).

Windows is appid 12100
Mac is appid 12230

Try this link (GitHub won't linkify it, so copy and paste into a browser):

steam://install/12100

@jn64 Yeah, the link seems to work just fine!
I have definitely played all of these on Windows, I never owned a Mac. That said, in my library GTA III shows up as AppID 12230 on Properties -> Updates.

Nothing extracted yet.
