Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

If I toggle the 24-hour clock format option in SteamOS, it should persist through reboots & updates.
It doesn't, instead it switches back to the standard 12hr clock format with AM/PM.

The problem is that it sometimes persists through reboots, but it definitely reverts after an update.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Enter the System Settings on a Steam Deck
  2. Toggle the 24hr clock format option
  3. Reboot or update (if possible) and see if it switches back to AM/PM format

I don't seem to be able to reproduce this issue. I just updated from 3.7.19 (stable) to 3.7.20 (beta), and the 24-hour clock setting remained on. Similarly, rebooting into the other partset (sudo steamos-reboot --reboot-other) doesn't seem to trigger the issue for me.

@raphipod can you reproduce the issue reliably? Even after updating to the latest stable release?

Not really anymore. It seems to be sporadic. I just rebooted because of the 3.7.19 stable update and shut down my Steam Deck completely for testing - both times it kept the clock format correctly.

It seems to be fixed, but I'll keep this issue open in case anybody else has this problem.

Same. Version 3.7.19 on Lenovo Legion Go S, after shutting down and after some time turning on the toggle switched back to 12hr clock format.

Update: I switched my OS update branch from Stable to Main. SteamOS Build 20260401.1000 - issue still exists upon updating to this version. Clock was set to 24hr-format before updating. Rebooting now keeps the time format -> changed the issue title appropriately.

Nothing extracted yet.
