I've also noticed. The first time you connect to a game using that method, it works. The second time it doesn't work, tried it with 3 games. If I delete ~/.local/share/Steam it resets everything from Steam and I can relaunch the game but only 1 time.
I'm having this issue too on CachyOS + Hyprland + Nvidia, but I don't really want to delete ~/.local/share/Steam. Doing that looks like it would nuke the steamapps folder that has all of my game installations. I have noticed that a reboot will fix it, but I have to reboot every time I want to connect to a new remote play session. Host in my case is on Windows 10.
EDIT: I just observed a reboot not fixing this issue. I also forgot to specify that I experienced this issue with Remote Play Together
If I were to guess, I think that when you initiate a Steam Remote Play session it must create a temporary file and that when you finish playing, it's supposed to delete that file and it's not.
That's why when I deleted the Steam folder it worked after.
A temporary fix would be finding that file and deleting it manually but I'm not even sure which one it is and if my speculation could be wrong.
In my case, rebooting the PC never fixed the problem.
Had the same issue on Mint, AMD Ryzen 5 7640U w/ Radeon 760M on X11. Changed my steam branch to beta and it worked.

Yeah, that did the trick for me too
Before I switched to the beta, I would get streaming_client coredumps in journalctl. The beta seems to have fixed this issue though and I daresay that the streaming performance has actually improved drastically.

Nothing extracted yet.
