Big Picture won't open

Whenever I attempt to start big picture mode from the main window, steam chrashes.

I just did a rm -f of .local/share/Steam and reinstalled, hoping it would work then. It does not. The problem remains.

Hi @plafuro, sorry this is taking a while. Could you supply the contents of your System Information from steam’s help menu, in case its changed since your first report. Are you up to date on system updates?
Do you have any issues running games without big picture?

My System has not changed since my first report and packages are up to date. I've also tried using other desktop environments other than Unity, with the same results (I'm running Mutter right now).

Do you have SELinux? Do Flash videos open in the client when you browse games? (as a triager, I dont get access to the dumps, so just getting information)

I use Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS (64 bit) as stated in the system information on my previous post. Flash videos play smoothly while browsing games within steam.
