Problem Description:
On a fresh install of Manjaro KDE, with all updates installed, after a cold boot, with no extra programs running, I'm unable to launch Steam and play the Linux native Vulkan version of Shadow of Mordor. The Steam Linux Native Vulkan version of Shadow of Mordor fails to launch the game. When I click the play button, it does play > stop > play with only a few seconds between the button states. There are no error messages. I expected Steam to launch the Feral Interactive pre-launch window, where I can choose the parameters that are fed to the actual game. The pre-launch window is never displayed. The compatibility module is set to the Steam Linux Runtime (scout) 1.0. Cloud saves are disabled. I tried switching between:
Steam Linux Runtime (scout) 1.0
Legacy runtime
Proton Experimental
GE-Proton-29
With GE-Proton-29 the game is re-downloaded as a windows install and launches via proton. The game works via proton but I specifically purchased this game because it has a Linux Native Vulkan version, which gives slightly higher FPS performance over Proton and Windows. The other compatibility modules produce the same play > stop > play behavior, with only a few seconds between the button states.
I'm encountering similar behavior with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and DOTA 2. I will create separate issues for these 2 games. The attached command line output contains output from attempting to run all 3 games as Linux Native installs.
