Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I have a Steam Link device connected to my TV, and until recently I was able to stream games from my PC over ethernet cable without major issues, even with my PC running a KDE wayland session, I had to start Steam with -pipewire -pipewire-dmabuf %U parameters to be able to stream the image correctly and not only a black window. Everything worked fine, even the audio (some time ago audio started to fail after some time of remote playing, but that bug was fixed). These play sessions with no issues I had an AMD RX 580 card instead of the new RX 9070-XT that I have since last november.

Last week I tried to remote play again since a few weeks in pause, when I launch the Steam Link, I am able to hear the sounds of the menus in the TV, or when I activate the background ambience sound, it works as expected, but when I connect to my PC, the image is perfectly fine, but I have no audio, even the sounds in the menu of the BPM or the games. None of them works. From living room I am able to hear the sounds in the PC if the speakers are connected, but the audio doesn't work in the TV.

I have a stereo speakers and a headseat connected to the PC, I have tried to set both as default in SO sound configurations, and select each one of them in steam audio configs, but none of the options work. I have tried to use only the speakers, disconnecting the headseat to have only one option, and neither work.

I have tried to go back to the X11 session, and the problem persists. I have even tried to connect from another desktop PC with an updated steam client and Nvidia GTX 970 GPU, and the issue persist.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start Steam Link device, and hear the menu sounds
  2. Connect to a PC via remote play
  3. No audio from BPM menus, or any game sounds

I have tried to restore the Steam Link to the factory settings, and after pairing again and update it to the last available version, the audio now work as expected, using the KDE wayland session and starting Steam with the parameters
-pipewire -pipewire-dmabuf %U.

I don't know why now works, but I think that the ticket can be closed for now. If I detect issues again I will try to reopen it.

Nothing extracted yet.
