Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
The on-screen keyboard can't type special characters like @ or {
I installed SteamOS using this repair image steamdeck-repair-main-20251027.1000-3.8.0 and after connecting to the Wi-Fi and setting the language it updated to the latest Main release, upon going into Desktop Mode I noticed that the Desktop Environment is now Wayland and not X11, and that the language instead of being in English it is set in Italian.
Note: before this build (20260309.1001) even if you set the language in the OOBE to anything other than English, Desktop mode remained in English)
The keyboard bug is caused by Wayland. Going back to X11 trough the Dev options fixes the issue.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
Install SteamOS using the steamdeck-repair-main-20251027.1000-3.8.0 repair image
Finish the OOBE setting the language to Italian
SteamOS updates to latest Main Release (20260309.1001)
Go into Desktop mode and type any special characters with the on-screen keyboard
