I can't even start my game Raft with the steam beta + Steam RT3. I click play and nothing happens. It seems related? Maybe because I downloaded the 32 bit version earlier or something?
where is the game installed?
@hansjansen2, I think you are encountering a different issue, probably #13015.
Please reserve this specific issue report for only the situation that original reporter described: they can successfully launch games, but the Stop button in Steam's user interface doesn't work.
This is a known issue with the experimental steamrt3c-based Steam client, tracked internally as steamrt/tasks#961. We do not need new reports of this issue.
This should be mostly fixed after updating the "Steam Linux Runtime 4.0", "Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)" and "Steam Linux Runtime 2.0 (soldier)" compatibility tools to yesterday's new beta releases.
If you have more than one of those tools installed, you'll need to select the beta or client_beta branch for all of them. If you don't have all of them installed, you only need to select the beta branch for the ones you have. These betas will be promoted to stable after they've had some more testing.
Limitations: the Stop button might not always work for older native Linux titles under "Legacy Runtime 1.0" (not recommended), or for Proton 5.0 or older (also not recommended). It also might not always work for non-Steam games (shortcuts).
I have tested these beta versions of the runtimes and it has been working well for the past 2 weeks with no issues closing games from the steam client "stop" button :)
Still doesn't work for me. Games are stuck in an infinite "Stopping" state

Have you switched every steam runtime to its beta version as stated 2 comments above?

I hadn't. Thanks. Games shut down as expected now.
I am having a similar issue. I will close out of a game and the game isn't open anymore but its still running in the background i guess. Then i click stop and it is just infinitely stopping the game. I have to force end the process. Latest steam beta as of 5/28/26

@glacier2909 did you read this reply? As seen above...
This should be mostly fixed after updating the "Steam Linux Runtime 4.0", "Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)" and "Steam Linux Runtime 2.0 (soldier)" compatibility tools to yesterday's new beta releases.
These have now been promoted to stable and are the default versions of the compatibility tools.
I am having a similar issue
If you are still having a similar issue after upgrading all three compatibility tools (if installed) to version x.0.20260507.x or later, please open a separate issue report with full details.
@kisak-valve, I think this can be closed now (@pollux78 already confirmed that the new SLR versions addressed the problem). If anyone is still having similar symptoms, we'd need more information from them, which might as well be a separate issue report.

I am unable to stop my games in the steam library, but some do but it has been rare.
My drives are mounted under /home/username/Drives/Games and /home/username/Drives/Extragames
