Description:

When using a physical racing wheel, drivers get immediate visual and tactile feedback about their steering input. This makes it easy to tell the difference between traction loss (understeer/oversteer) and driver error. With thumbstick, touchpad, or gyro-based steering in Steam Input, there is no visual feedback showing the current virtual wheel angle. This often makes traction loss feel like input lag or unresponsive controls, causing players to overcompensate and making precise driving much harder.

Requested Feature:

Add an optional on-screen steering wheel overlay (or simple angle indicator) in Steam Input that visually shows the current steering position in real time. This overlay should be toggleable, customizable (size, position, opacity, style), and work with any input type mapped to steering (Joystick, Touchpad, Gyro, etc.).

Benefits:

Helps players understand whether the car is losing traction or if they are over/under-steering. Reduces perceived input lag with controller/Deck steering. Makes thumbstick and touchpad steering significantly more usable and enjoyable in racing games
Brings controller driving closer to the experience of a physical wheel

Use Cases:

Especially useful in racing games that do not have their own built-in steering wheel HUD (many arcade racers and older titles). Also valuable when using Steam Deck or controller on the big screen. This feature would be a big quality-of-life improvement for anyone using Steam Input for driving games without a physical wheel.
