Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

The in-client store consistently shows much older games in the home page "New Releases" widget and on the Popular New Releases page than the web storefront does, when both
are accessed by the same Steam account at the same URL.

For example, the in-client Popular New Releases list surfaces games like RimWorld and Albion Online (both 8+ years old). The same URL opened in a regular browser, signed in
to the same account, shows actually recent releases.

This has been the case for around 2 years for me

.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Open the Steam client on Linux and navigate to Store → New & Trending → Popular New Releases.
  2. In a regular browser (Firefox/Chrome), open https://store.steampowered.com/explore/new/?filter=popularnew while signed in to the same Steam account.
  3. Compare the two lists side-by-side: the in-client view contains games from years ago that do not appear on the web view, while the web view shows recent releases.

Running into the same thing on Fedora 44. Seems like the Linux steam client filters a lot of the front page games down to ones that have native Linux releases available by default. This probably made a bit more sense before Proton really kicked off, but at this point I'd personally strongly prefer to see all games that are compatible with Linux or Windows by default since Proton can bridge the gap for a huge chunk of Windows games on most popular distros.

That being said, you can fix the issue by pressing the Steam button in the top left of the client -> Settings -> Store -> Platform Preference -> clicking the checkbox for Linux and Windows games.

Nothing extracted yet.
