New steam controller works only half-way. It seems like it always uses desktop button mapping, even when in-game. I concluded this due to x opening a keyboard. Behavior changed when i modified desktop mapping in Settings>Controller>Advanced. However, when i map buttons like a/b to r4/r5/l4/l5 - they do not work anyway. I also mapped out everything in game-specific controller settings (which is a standard layout + touchpad/gyro as joystick camera + r4/r5/l4/l5 set to left/right stick presses and a/b). None of that works and button actions default to whatever i set in desktop settings minus r4/r5/l4/l5. Game i tested with is Crimson Desert.

EDIT:
I realized i have PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1, changing it to PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0 fixed this issue.

Thanks! I didnt realize overlay is what makes custom remapping work or not work at all.
