Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Steam input should pass all button presses from my Steam Controller to games. This works fine for steam-native games, but not for on-steam games.

I've been able to reproduce this with Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers and SuperTuxKart: Buttons like L1/R1 and grip buttons aren't being passed to the game, no matter what's bound to them. The bumpers here are especially surprising because they're literally standard buttons found on every Xbox controller.

Possibly related is the fact that the steam overlay will not show, no matter how often you turn it off and on again. (It is globally enabled and works in other games)

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Add Non-Steam game (e.g. Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers or SuperTuxKart) to steam
  2. Run the game
  3. No overlay, whatever you try and missing grip- and bumper buttons

The same problem also applies to custom launch options like LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib /usr/bin/supertuxkart %command%
