I was able to restore an older version of the firmware using the hardwareupdater.x86_64 and by replacing the files.
There are no issues with the older firmware. Attempting to update to a newer version again causes the same problems to reappear.
Nothing extracted yet.

Issue 1:
Turning off the controller while it’s charging (directly connected to puck) causes the controller to restart on its own. instead of just tuning off. This can crash the steam client.
Issue 2:
Updating the controller allows me to use it as long as it remains powered on. If I turn the controller off for 10–15 minutes and then turn it back on, it boots into bootloader mode, and I have to reinstall the same update.
When using a cable, it also works as long as it is connected to the cable. Disconnecting the cable and turning the controller back on results in bootloader mode.

These issues first started on the steam beta client, which introduced the ability to adjust the LED brightness. Returning to the stable version resolved these issues. However, with the update to stable build 1780352834, it no longer works as it should.
