I have to launch Monster Hunter Wilds with PROTON_USE_SDL=1 gamemoderun %command% /HID/UseISteamInput:False for the Vader 5 Pro to be recognized within the game. The controller shows up with no problems in the game's Library page, with all extended buttons active. I can modify them and they stay saved unlike many other reports. However, without the explicit enable of SDL the controller is not detected by the game.

Steam > Settings > Controller lists the controller as a Vader 5 Pro: X-Box Pad, which is a bit unexpected. Proton GE does not work at allnor does the latest CachyOS Proton 11 merge, the latter is a bit surprising.

I'm using Proton Experimental on Arch Linux with the steam-devices and game-devices-udev packages installed.

I have been using padctl but thought I'd test where Steam support is at now and I'm frankly surprised this works so well now, thanks for your efforts as it's a great controller option. I fully uninstalled padctl just for this test.

Hello @v1ld, we're tracking issues with games run with Proton in the Proton issue tracker. Also, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/8206#issuecomment-4701903593.
