Today a new client update was released, it did install and update, but if I select check for updates, it says there is an update available and offers to download it again, etc.
There should be a check to see if you already have installed it.
@Sunspark-007 I think I see the problem. The client is checking for both steam and OS updates, but it only restarts the client.
Can you check if rebooting your system clears out the update banner?
Hi, yes it did. I don't like rebooting because usually I have to disconnect everything from the dock and then reconnect everything, but this time around (maybe because I had told it to boot into desktop mode instead) I didn't need to disconnect stuff.
The banner was cleared on reboot and doesn't keep reinstalling the same version.
Nothing extracted yet.
Your system information
tar -zcvf ~/Desktop/steam-logs.tar.gz ~/.steam/steam/logs]Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
When in desktop mode checking for an update, being informed there is one, downloading and installing it, it no longer updates the client. Just restarts into the existing version. This has has happened before in the past, stopped, and is now happening again.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
Let me know if the logs are needed, but you should be able to reproduce this just by clicking on check for steam client updates from the Steam menu.
