Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

When pressing any button on any controller (steam deck and dualsense tested), it causes the mouse pointer/cursor to disappear and reappear. I tested this with the default desktop control configuration and also a blank profile for the dualsense. Even pressing unmapped buttons causes the pointer to flash. When moving your finger on a touchpad, it will flash as well, seemingly once per second or so. Notably, if you turn on gyro-to-mouse, if the mouse pointer is already visible, you can move the pointer around without it disappearing. If it's already invisible, it stays invisible. And finally, if you move a regular mouse, the pointer goes back to normal.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Open steam in some sort of desktop
  2. Press any button on a controller

Extra details:

I'm running the Unity desktop environment with compiz and the like. The unity packages are pulled from Ubuntu 26.04 resolute raccoon. Though it's still artix linux. Oh also it's running on X11 just to be clear.

I tried capturing a video of the issue with obs, but the cursor is always visible there.. Maybe there's a way to force a software cursor or something at the desktop level?

If steam is closed, nothing happens to the cursor when pressing buttons.

Nothing extracted yet.
