I am using Steam on KDE Plasma Wayland with Fcitx5 and Rime Chinese input method.
When typing Chinese in Steam text fields, some keystrokes may be lost or appear as raw Latin characters when typing pinyin quickly.
For example, typing a pinyin sequence such as:
nihaoshijie
may sometimes result in missing letters or individual Latin characters appearing directly in the Steam input field instead of being handled by the IME composition.
The issue happens in multiple Steam text fields, including:
Steam search box
Friends/chat input
Other Steam client text fields
Expected behavior:
All keystrokes should be handled by the Fcitx5 IME composition and converted into Chinese text normally.
Actual behavior:
During fast typing, some keystrokes are not handled by the IME correctly and appear directly in the Steam text field.
Slow typing usually works correctly.
Fcitx5 works normally in other applications (such as Firefox, Telegram, and KDE applications).
The issue appears to be specific to the Steam Linux client when running with Wayland.
