Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I am using Steam on KDE Plasma Wayland with Fcitx5 and Rime Chinese input method.

When typing Chinese in Steam text fields, the pinyin preedit text is not displayed inside the Steam input field.

For example:

Typing:

bizhiyingqing

The pinyin composition is displayed only in the Fcitx5 input panel, while the Steam text field does not show the preedit text.

After selecting a candidate, the final Chinese text can be committed into the Steam text field.

This behavior happens consistently every time.

Expected behavior:

The pinyin preedit text should be displayed correctly inside the Steam text field, just like other applications using Fcitx5.

Actual behavior:

The preedit text is only displayed by Fcitx5 and is not shown inside the Steam input field.

Fcitx5 + Rime works normally in other applications such as Firefox, Telegram, and KDE applications.

Environment:

  • KDE Plasma Wayland
  • Fcitx5 + Rime Chinese input method
  • Steam launched with:

--enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start KDE Plasma Wayland session.
  2. Enable Fcitx5 with Rime Chinese input method.
  3. Launch Steam with Wayland/Ozone enabled.
  4. Open any Steam text input field.
  5. Switch to Chinese input mode.
  6. Type pinyin.
  7. Observe that the preedit text appears only in Fcitx5, not inside the Steam input field.

Nothing extracted yet.
