Also having this issue on NixOS with Niri. Enable context menu focus compatibility mode doesn't fix it, although it does make the menus stay on screen for a second longer for some reason?
Same issue here - Void Linux with Niri. Same behavior observed with Enable context menu focus compatibility mode
To access steam settings (currently inaccessible through the ui), right click on the tray icon or open steam://open/settings
Same issue on Arch Linux with niri.
i also am a niri user also a tip for yall you can use menus from steam big picture mode if you have a controller
I do have the same issue on CachyOS with Wayland/Niri on a AMD CPU and GPU. As an aside context menus are working for me. This look a bit like a Niri Problem.
I can confirm, this is an issue with Niri. Sway and Hyprland work just fine on my system. I also filled a Bug-Report on the niri-repo: Issue 4517
Update: This is not a problem with niri it self. It is a problem with xwayland-satellite version 0.8.2. See Drop down selection menu fail to render after v0.8.2 (commit 3273a0f)
There is a workaround on arch-family distros. You can downgrade the xwayland-satellite package to Version 0.8.1-2
Also getting this using Fedora with Niri.
On CachyOS+Niri, I installed the "downgrade" package then ran
downgrade xwayland-satellite
Chose version 8.1 and rebooted. Restarting steam was not sufficient.
Same issue on Arch Linux with niri 26.04 (Wayland) and local/xwayland-satellite 0.8.2-1
upgrading xwayland-satellite to version v0.8.3 fixes the issue. You'll need to log out from your graphical session, though.
0.8.3-1 fixed this problem
you can update it now
version 0.8.3-1 of xwayland-satellite have fixed this issue therefore im closing it.
so yeah niri and or noctalia issue, managed to actually click on settings and have it open in another window by changing my monitors resolution scale, 1.2x on 1440p (use nirimod as well as noctalia monitors) can't help you with configuring scale other than with either of those tools, sorry, also with the force compatibility mode enabled and gpu acceleration off seems to be a whole lot better.
Nothing extracted yet.

As of the latest Steam client update to the date of posting this, dropdown and context menus (such as the top-left "Steam", "View", "Friends" menus, and clicking names in the (Friends list) appear for a fraction of a second and immediately dismiss/disappear.
