TF2: Choppy framerate (regression)

My framerate in TF2 is pretty choppy in general (regression, this wasn't the case with the first beta release!), yet playable, generally hanging around 250+ if little is going on, 100 - 140 is a lot if going on, all very playable, but it tends to quickly drop every few seconds, for a split second, and ramp back up, resulting in very noticable choppiness.

I tried looking at it via "net_graph 2", don't know how helpful it is but I figure it's better than nothing:

Small update, this is much less noticable if I play windowed, it occasionally stutters a little bit but not more so than it would under Windows I presume.

I have this same exact issue with tf2. My system manages to put out high fps in tf2 (100-300 fps) but the game feels more like it is at 30 fps most of the time even if the fps counter shows 200. There is quite a difference in how smooth the game runs for me in windows vs linux. I have tried both the 310.14 and 313.09 drivers from nvidia with no noticable difference.
