Even deleting the save files and re-installing the game, starting a new game doesn't work.
I can repro this and will fix it.
Yeah. I'm not going to lie, it's kind of cool seeing the map laid out like this, but I could do that with no-clip, and it would be nice to continue playing the game. :smile:
I did a reinstall a few minutes ago to find that the save folders had been purged and if the save files are in the cloud, they are not restored on install.
EDIT: ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half-Life/valve/SAVE does not exist

I don't really have a problem with losing my saves, I was not far into the game.

I have a workaround, "mkdir ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half-Life/valve/SAVE" and saves will start working. I have a code fix that will be ready soon.
I'm afraid that directory already exists for me Alfred. It was the one that I was told to put my saves into when the save directory was moved earlier this week.
Look around for other SAVE/ folders, ones with *.HL? files and move them to valve/SAVE also.
I'll have the real fix live in a few minutes, then we will be good.

And I fiddled around with the save files in a way that I thought would not help at all, and the issue seems to be fixed. Thanks for your help Alfred.
okay, fixed, restart steam or wait a few minutes to pick up the fix. Saves you made in the last couple of days may be corrupted, but any old enough ones and new ones should work fine.

After moving the save files as directed, and updating recently, everytime I try to save the game, I load the save to find that I have no weapons, am outside the game area, and cannot move. Only the saves that were created before today's update (OK, I haven't played for a couple of days, so one of those updates this work week) can be properly loaded.
