When I click on the steam Icon in unity, and choose, say "Friends", the friends window doesn't show up.

I've had a pretty shaky go at this so far. It seems to be working now. I think I may have been experiencing this bug because I was launching steam with gksu steam due to having trouble getting steam online for the first time. I'll double check that's the issue.

Yeah, this issue can be closed as that a solution for checking root is being devised per this issue https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/1500. I'll post more if I experience it again with out using root but I don't think I'll see the issue again.
