There's a fade on Windows also, it's just a little more subtle.
@gdrewb-valve I see, well if it was just small enough to not cover the game name text that would be great.
Accident - Did not mean to close and re-open , Just wanted to post that this fade is not on the Store , Community or Profile pages , it only affects the Library page on Steam.
This looks fixed now in the beta client , thank you valve that was bugging me.

On the Linux version of Steam there is a black fade border on the top and bottom of the library window in detail view that is not there on Windows.
The black bar causes the text of the first game on the list in detailed view to be faded over with the black bar.
Please see screenshot in link below from Linux, look at how the text Amnesia: The Dark Descent is darker on the top, almost like it is being cut off.
