You should report this problem to the game developers.
the last time I played in Windows the game was in Spanish, now is in English in windows and linux too.

@obedlink : To change the subtitles options, you must to add "lang es" in the launch option in Steam like explain in your link.
@gdrewb-valve : I tried this solution in Windows Seven and Debian Wheezy. On Seven there isn't problem, the "-lang fr" works but on Steam Linux this solution does not works. So for me, it's a Steam problem :)

@gdrewb-valve I think this is a Steam problem, if I run the game outside of Steam it detects correctly my native language, but when I execute it from Steam it always appear in english.
What's your locale? If you look in /usr/share/X11/locale do you see an entry that matches your locale string? If not the Steam client will see that XSupportsLocale fails and will default the client locale to en_US.UTF-8.
My locale is es_ES.UTF-8, and no it doesn't exists any entry in /urs/share/X11/locale with my locale.
BTW I'm using Archlinux.
That explains what you're seeing then, as without X support the Steam client can't function properly in your locale and thus switches to English. I'm not sure why you don't have X support for your locale, has your system always been configured for es_ES?
I am using Kubuntu 13.04 and in /usr/share/X11/locale doesn't exists es_ES.UTF-8, but my sistem is in Spanish.

this is a Steam problem.
Steam can't make the X server support locales it doesn't have info for, if XSupportsLocale returns false there's nothing Steam can do. It's possible that's not your issue, though, so it could be a Steam issue.

I play at Crusader Kings 2 and i can choose my language. If i choose "French", the game use my native language.
My comment is about the Steam client and in response to the posts about the difference in behavior when launched in Steam and outside of it. The Steam client uses X and therefore is reliant on X support for a locale. When there is no X support for a locale the Steam client changes the locale to English so that it can at least function partially. That is affecting the game, thus if there was X support for a locale the Steam client wouldn't have to change anything and the difference would be gone.
Note also that the original report noted problems on Windows also, which is totally unrelated to X. I don't know of any reason why Windows behavior would change, thus my original response that the game developers should take a look as there may be more going on.
There's a potential issue with the Steam client where we should try and make it not affect the game launch, which is why this issue is still open, but again that's specific to Linux.
the problem is solved, now appears the "Languages" tab in the properties of the game in steam.

Bastion has a language problem, today I ran bastion in linux and windwos and both are in English. In-Game not are language options.
my native lenguage is spanish.
