Have you reported this to the game developer? They should be able to determine what's going wrong.
This is known to the developer, official statement:
Hi,
There are 2 things I usually recommend in such situations:
- install drivers from manufacturer's website as those are for some reason work better than the ones included in the >distribution
- try 32b libs as the problem is related to 64b
thanks,
If any solution won't help, we can only recommend asking Steam for a refund (and they're ok to do).

So it seems like it will never get fixed and people buyed through the humble bundle will never see a game nor get the money back.
Well, I am having a similar problem, but in my case the intro plays normaly, that "spining thing" on the bottom right of the screen spins for some seconds then, when it is supposed to go to the menu screen, it closes the game, I can see the white cursor of the game in a black screen for 1 or 2 seconds maybe, then it goes back to Desktop.
In my case I have installed the latest driver from AMD´s website and have the 32 bit libs installed.
Here are my specs: https://gist.github.com/Lord-Avallon/4521727
Actually realized that ia32-libs wasn't installed. Must have done it on my other computer (had a headache due to incompatible libraries). Installed it on my gaming platform. Made no difference.
I have also always been installing packages based on the amd drivers. I was using 12.10 because Spectraball works with them, but not the beta driver. For the sake of this and other bug reports I am currently running 13.2 beta3 (while having removed the silly watermark mind you) and has made no difference. I have also saved all built packages for drivers 12.08 and 13.1 and have used 13.1 to test with with no luck. No matter what I do most of the games I use on Steam don't know how to switch to fullscreen. I think this is silly and there has to be some way for this to be easily fixed.
I just looked over at AMDs bug tracker and it seems this has been fixed upstream: http://devgurus.amd.com/thread/160408#1287211 - For me the game works now. :)
Nothing extracted yet.
Problem Description:
The intros play back fine but when it's supposed to show the menu a small clump of pixels appears on the very right hand side in the middle, the mouse cursor and the music is still present. Cannot switch to the terminal console and when attempted the mouse cursor is then lost. Only a cold reboot solves the problem but can be accomplished through ssh as well so the computer is not frozen other than the video.
Workarounds:
None known.
Reproduce the issue:
Launch the game and wait for the main menu to try to load.
