Error during login and download TF2

Hi,
I recently downloaded the Steam client, I bought Serious Sam and I'm trying to download Team Fortress 2.
If I open the client and put in download these two games I got errors about the HTTP connection (hence the speed remains at 0 B / s and the game does not download) and during login (I'm not an expert and do not know exactly how they can be "split" type errors), add that these errors fill the file /var/log / until the hard disk space does not end.
