No problem ‐ load a terminal program, Inside that box, type steam and paste all the output onto https://gist.github.com/ and link that here :)
Okay I got it to work after I changed my graphics drivers to the nonexperimental and nonpost update one. Though now every time steam starts up, it tells me I need to update my drivers to the experimental driver... is this unavoidable?
Can you post your system information (By going to Help -> System Information in Steam), and also the exact drivers which you were using which don't work vs those you're using now?

Drivers that did not work were the "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver (experiemental beta)," and the one that works is the "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver," but the problem with this one is that I am unable to play any games on steam.
What output do you get when you try to play a game on Steam with the drivers that work?
Are you able to play other games (outside of Steam) or run other opengl applications?
Closing as we need more information.
Nothing extracted yet.
Running 12.04 LTS, installed Steam via the software center but when the icon is clicked, it will not open. I had steam running back when it was in the closed beta, but now I cannot get it running at all. I don't know exactly where to start to try to diagnose the problem.
