L4D2 isn't available for Linux. Are you doing this on Windows?
Sorry, I'm on OS X. As there's no equivalent for other platforms I'm posting it here.
Yeah, this is a platform-independent problem. (I'd love it if Valve expanded their GitHub to include everything, hint hint.) It's happened to me from time to time, most recently during TF2 updates. I'll keep you posted if it happens with anything that's actually on SteamPipe.
@stevethepocket They more repos for the different areas every now and then. https://github.com/ValveSoftware shows that they have four repos at the moment.
