I've been debugging a serious graphical issue that I've experienced with the game Killing Floor. Initially I thought it might have to do with the Steam Community Overlay, as the issue seemed to lessen after disabling it for the game, but I've found that the issue persists despite.

When launching Killing Floor, the producer's logo flickers constantly. In-game, the title menu often itself flickers in the same way. This seems to happen only when I've previously run the game during my Gnome session. Going into the Display menu in-game and switching to another resolution and then back resolves the flickering for that instance of the game.

After closing Killing Floor, my desktop manager (Gnome-Shell 3.4.1) is often completely compromised, itself flickering constantly, and windows drawing over each other in pieces, and the activities menu being practically inaccessible.

The only way to fix my desktop manager after running Killing Floor ends up being switching to another TTY and killing gnome-session. This means that I have to restart all of my running applications, and probably isn't good for the long-term viability of my Gnome installation.

I have not seen this issue with cinnamon 1.6.7 / Gnome 3.6.2 on nvidia graphics, possible intel driver issue?

@TheFrozenFire Pretty sure this is some combinatoric between the game and the Intel driver. I wasn't able to reproduce the exact same issue you saw, but my resolution was definitely messed up when I exited Killing Floor. I tried this on hardware with a similar profile to the one you reported this against (Ivybridge, 3.0 Mesa 9.0).

My suggestion is to contact the makers of Killing Floor. They're definitely doing something that's not quite right here, the impact of which is more severe on this Intel video driver/card.

Nothing extracted yet.
