This is a serious issue, I and many others on forums are encountering it...I also got the same result with that command
I know what's happening here, and I'm working on a fix.
FYI, there isn't enough room on a LiveCD to install any big games like TF2.
Okay, fix is in:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install steam-launcher
therefore this page is stupid http://www.teamfortress.com/linux/
why do they tell me its possible to get that tux pinguin by trying steam on a live cd or usb installation
i didnt knew i can try an online version of ubuntu i just noticed by searching for this page , will this work for tf2?
Nothing extracted yet.
here is the thing "You are missing the following 32-bit libraries, and steam may not run:
Not" it shows this message 2 times when i want to start steam on an Ubuntu 12.04 live cd
since i cant get it to work on wubi either im pretty much screwed
also in response to this
"Can you attach the output of this command?
ldd ~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steamui.so"
i got this on the terminal :
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ ldd ~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steamui.so
ldd: /home/ubuntu/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32/steamui.so: No such file or directory
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$
